Some News From The Hungry Travellers… No Travelogue But A Book Instead…
We are delighted to say that our travels are poised to recommence this week, after what has been for us a lengthy stay in the UK – a whopping 74 days in fact. During this time we have been absent from the blog world for reasons we’ll explain below, but Michaela is still posting updates on Instagram, you can find these at @michaelasharman.
Later this week we will be leaving the UK for three months touring the islands of Indonesia, essentially west to east, taking in what should be some hugely exciting locations. We won’t though be posting on this blog site in the style we have previously, but instead will be posting photographs and the much shorter updates similar to those which Michaela puts on Instagram.
This is due, quite simply, to time constraints for the best of reasons. It has been an ambition of mine for as long as I can remember to write and possibly publish a novel. During the last few months I have realised that ambition in terms of writing, and I am delighted and excited to say that my novel has been accepted for publication and my dream is now in the process of becoming reality. My book will be published some time whilst we’re in Indonesia, we will put all details on here when my ambition is finally fulfilled.
In addition to this, my second novel is already being formulated and I expect to be filling any idle moments on this trip by tapping away at the iPad, so consequently I am very unlikely to be able to keep up with the travel blog at the same time.
So….Michaela’s “postcards from Indonesia” will appear on here very soon, as will details of my book when published.
We are of course still hugely appreciative of those who follow our travels in whatever format and hope Michaela’s “postcards” will keep everyone tuned in…

It seems a logical step and it’s good that you’ve found your writing ‘mojo’ again. Good luck! xx

Congratulations and felicitations in every possible way! Absolutely great that a dream of yours is coming true . . . and if book number two is already in the offing, the writing of number one must have brought satisfaction and pleasure! Glad that we all will be able to stay in contact thru’ Michaela’s photos and., hopefully, brief notes! Am on IG and have been able to see a few lovely pictures – my current locally atrocious WiFi and firewall have led to difficulties communicating 🙁 ! Three whole months in Indonesia . . . do hope you will enjoy a complex country . . . and the photos should be coming in during my times of day . . . so > hope to hear and see soon . . . fingers crossed for a smooth beginning . . .

Thank you Eha, we’ve just arrived in Jakarta and it’s very sultry! Yes I absolutely enjoyed writing the novel, was never a chore!

Congratulations on the publishing deal. I assume the book is travel based? So exciting. I am self-publishing an short story anthology for my creative writing student later this year.
Enjoy Indonesia. A grand finish in Bali no doubt!
Will follow with interest here and on Insta.
Phil & Michaela
Not really travel based as such but it does have a travel aspect and some exotic locations. It’s been an enjoyable experience completing the book and I am pinching myself that it’s going to be in print and on the shelves soon!

That is so exciting
Heyjude
Not easy to get a publisher so well done. My neighbour is an author, she gets very stressed meeting deadlines. Hope you find it more pleasurable.
Phil & Michaela
Ah, deadlines are only for established authors who are in demand so if I ever get given a deadline then I guess I’ll be happy, initially at least! It’s been very enjoyable creating this first one but I’m amazed that it really is going to be on the shelves. Exceeding my best hopes so far Jude.

I’m hugely excited for you about the book, and the trip too which is sure to be amazing! I’ll look forward to the virtual postcards and to following your travels here and elsewhere. And we must definitely have that drink when you get back and drink to the success of your first novel 🍻🥂

You can give me a critique….ah no, maybe not, you may not rate it! 😄.

I left a comment hours ago that seems to have disappeared. WP can be annoying ….
Anyway, sincere congratulations on your book, Phil, and thanks for the update about your blogging and writing plans. Cheers.
Phil & Michaela
I’m afraid your comments are STILL going into “needing approval” like they always have done. Very frustrating! But thank you again Lynette.
Lynette d'Arty-Cross
You’re welcome. Sometimes comments just don’t take and go off to that great electronic waiting room in the sky. However, I have that same issue with two bloggers who have been following for years. Suddenly I have to approve every time they comment. WP fixed the issue temporarily but then it started up again. Agreed – very frustrating!
Phil & Michaela
Yep, with ours it’s just you and Maggie at Monkey’s Tale
Lynette d'Arty-Cross
Maggie for you, too! Yes, her comments always show up as needing approval from me as well. Interesting.
Marie
Oh wow – wishing you the very very best of luck …..
Phil & Michaela
Thank you Marie xx

That’s interesting news. I’ve long thought that your talent for describing your travels could be put to use in a more ambitious literary project. I understand all too well the time constraints of travelling, having chosen to publish after my trips rather than during them. I’ll be following your journey through Indonesia with interest; I had to cancel my own trip there in April because it involved a stopover in Abu Dhabi – bad timing.
Phil & Michaela
Oh that’s a shame, yes we booked late enough to arrange to come through Istanbul. Thank you for that comment, very much appreciated!
Helen Devries
Delighted to hear of the book….and looking forward to Indonesia.
Phil & Michaela
Thank you Helen!

Congratulations, I’ll be looking out for the book and look forward to reading it. Sounds like a great trip. Anthony has always wanted to visit some of the Indonesian islands, apart from Bali!
