Komodo National Park and its dragons
A two night stay in the activity town of Labuan Bajo before joining our liveaboard boat for 2 nights 3 days sailing around the Komodo National Park. A great experience and some amazing sights. Apart from seeing the Komodo dragons and Manta rays, the snorkelling there was fabulous, the sea so clear and the colours spectacular, will let the photos talk…..

The dragons live on 5 of the Islands in the park. I wouldn’t want to be bitten by one, the bacteria in them can make their prey bleed out and have a long slow death if they aren’t eaten straight away. Fortunately they generally ignore humans unless they feel threatened but just incase, the guides do carry long sticks. The trip has been full of adventure, time to slow down now and spend some relaxing time at the beach to finish up 😀

You know already that I’m jealous of your Komodo Dragon adventures! How was the accommodation on board?

Our room was very comfortable, spacious and had its own balcony at the back of the boat. Little shower room, even with warm water, some of the time. I think you really have to do your research as some boats have dorms and there are also private boats. We had 6 other guests on board with us. We had left it until quite last minute so our first choices weren’t available. Lots of touts selling when we arrived at Labuan Bajo but who knows the quality left. We met a young solo traveller who did a budget shared option and wishes she had paid more.

Seems it pays to plan at least a little ahead of time!

It’s amazing isn’t it?! We did something similar except our boat was more rustic, but it was just us.

Fabulous. Sometimes we wish we had been on our own, our fellow guests were, lets just say for purpose of the blog “ far from our taste” 😬

This trip looks amazing. The boat looks like a fun stay. Did you eat on the boat? Where am I going to find the time to do all these islands? Next year is filling up nicely!
