Bad News Means We Have To Go Home
We have had such an amazing time in Rio, and will post very soon about our other fabulous experiences here. And we were so looking forward to seeing much more of Brazil. Today we hiked around Tijuca, the rainforest inside the city, then returned to our hotel to find messages to call home urgently.
Sadly, Michaela’s Dad passed away this morning, unexpectedly, so we have to return home.
It’s our intention to resume this trip as soon as we can, though unavoidably with some changes to our itinerary.
Time to fly home now. More on Rio to follow when we can.

So sorry for your news. Ten years ago the same happened to us. We were in Morocco when Kim’s mum died suddenly. We could only get one flight home so she had to return solo and I returned later.

Thank you Ali. He wasn’t in great health (and 82) but was perfectly stable so we certainly hadn’t expected this yet. We’re heading home later today and at this stage our intention is to return to Brazil straight after the funeral, we’ll see how that pans out.
