Michaela on tour- week one continued

Norwich Cathdral
Norwich Cathedral

Up bright and early this morning for the hour long bus ride into the city of Norwich. 24 miles North-West of Lowestoft, Norwich is the most complete medieval city in England and the only city in England located in a national park, the Norfolk Broads

Quick facts about Norwich:

Norwich Cathedral has the second tallest spire in England after Salisbury Cathedral

Norwich claims to have the largest open air market in the UK

It was said that Norwich had a church for every week of the year and a pub for every day of the year! Unfortunately there aren’t that many pubs now!

Today we leave the shops behind and stroll around on this crisp sunny winter’s day to enjoy the old quarter with its cobbled streets and quaint houses.

First stop is the magnificent building of the Norwich Union Life Insurance Society, now Aviva. This majestic building boasts a spectacular marble interior and we were lucky enough to be escorted to take a look at the priceless chiming skeleton clock thought to be the only surviving one of its kind in the world.

Next up a wander through the market place, the beating heart of Norwich once famous for its coffee houses and pubs, now an array of street food and anything else you might want to buy.

Wandering through the cobbled streets, it’s as if time has stood still…..
