So while  Phil is enjoying his boys weekend in Madrid, Michaela is enjoying a visit to her Mums in Lowestoft.

Lowestoft, the most Easterly point in England and established as a fishing town in the 14th century, however in recent years the industry along with its fishing fleet has significantly reduced since its heyday.

Lowestoft is also a tradition English holiday town offering an attractive promenade a beautiful pale soft sand beach and an array colourful beach huts. A great place in the summer but its position on the North Sea often brings in chilling easterly winds keeping the temperature somewhat cooler on the coast.

Lowestoft is not the only attraction in the area, Suffolk has more than its fair share of quaint rural and coastal villages, we head to Aldeburgh today. The drive there is beautiful, fields of bright yellow rape, pig fields galore, yes, the famous Blythburgh pork is delicious! Aldeburgh itself is full of quaint cottages has a pebble beach and a small fishing community, its lovely place to spend a couple of hours.

Back to Lowestoft for an evening out, the sun is setting and the familiar statue of Neptune is silhouetted against the pale blue sky. We settle in at our table in the best Turkish restaurant in Lowestoft “Shish” looking out across the North Sea. We sample the wonderful food and wine this place has to offer, we later joined by friends and there is much merriment, a perfect end to a fabulous day.
