Taking A Break From Blog Posts
We’ve decided we’re going to press the pause button on posting on this site. Not saying we’re gone for ever, not even guessing for how long we’ll be taking a break, but a break is what it is going to be. Nothing massive about the reason, just that I’ve taken a huge amount of pleasure from writing about our travels over the years, but suddenly for reasons I can’t fully explain it feels like a bit of a chore and a break feels like the right thing to do.
Michaela however is more than happy to keep snapping away at the wonderful places we see and will continue to keep up to date on Instagram and Facebook. For those who don’t already follow and wish to do so, you can find our travel updates here….

Signing off now, it’s been fun, particularly receiving comments from people, which are always valued and appreciated. Thank you! We’ll probably be back one day, we just don’t know when.

Just feels like the right time…

Extremely sorry to hear that! Have taken lots of inspiration from you. Happy travels!
Phil & Michaela
Thank you, Cathy…well, we are very happy indeed to have inspired somebody!

Hugely sorry to read this – your photos and writings have oft made my day . . . but wishing you all the best, and hoping to stay in touch via Instagram . . . bestest . . .
Phil & Michaela
We will still be around in those places 😄
Heyjude
That’s a shame, but understandable. Blogging has to be a pleasure not a chore. I don’t use insta or FB so I shall miss Michaela’s wonderful photography. I hope the remainder of this trip goes well for you both. One question before you disappear, how on earth do you get your washing done? You both always look meticulously attired. I’m sure you are not carrying tons of luggage.
Stay safe and stay happy.
Phil & Michaela
Indeed not, backpacks only! Well because we choose a lot of stays in apartments, we often have a washing machine with short wash cycles, so it’s just a case of regular housekeeping. Thank you for your good wishes and for your many comments, Jude.

Thst is a shame Phil but I can understand about it becoming a chore. You’ve posted brilliant things and I love your writing, I do have to catch up on a lot of your travels though. Life is getting away from me at the moment. I do see Michaela’s photos so I haven’t been missing out.
I do hope you write the occasional post. I feel like I’m losing a friend somehow.
Phil & Michaela
Losing a friend….aww Ali that’s a lovely thing to say. I’ll be reading yours when you get the opportunity to post so I’ll still be in touch xx. I do hope life turns a better corner for you soon.
Alison
Thanks Phil..we are getting there and have a trip planned to Melbourne. That’s to see my daughter in law after her brain surgery
Phil & Michaela
Oh Ali no wonder you’re in a bad place, what a terrible year this has turned out to be for you and your family
Alison
All the bad has come at once, hard to deal with at times but moving through that tunnel towards the light
Phil & Michaela
Sending ❤️❤️❤️

Just spotted this and I did wonder if I’d missed something. I do know the feeling and if you’re not enjoying it, what’s the point? So glad I managed to meet you along the way. Give my love to Mostar xx
Phil & Michaela
Hi Jo – we’ve been in Slovenia for a few days and it is absolutely beautiful. So lovely we want to come back! Will arrive Mostar on Wednesday.

As much as I will miss your writing, I fully understand. When it feels like a chore…I’ve followed Michaela’s Instagram and will continue to keep up with you there until you decide to return to the blog. All the best to you both.
Phil & Michaela
Thank you Suzanne…just feels like it’s run its course at the moment but, well, who knows…

Good for you on following what feels right, when it feels like a chore it’s time to step back. I hope your time away is peaceful, restoring, and full of joy. Hugs from us in Tennessee 🙂

Hugs back 😀

What! I just emerge from hospital and you do a runner!
Seriously, sometimes you just have to do what you feel like doing….I still have loads of your older posts to enjoy while hoping for a return.
Phil & Michaela
Hospital…oh dear, hope all is well or at least getting there. I just feel like it’s kind of run its course in its current format and Michaela’s quick posts on social media are more appropriate. But who knows…
The Flask Half Full
I get it. Hope you’ll still find some time for reading blogs and I’ll still see you in the comments section. Cheers to you both.
Phil & Michaela
I shall and you will 😁.

I hit the like button automatically but I know I’m going to miss reading your posts even though of course I will keep up to date on your travels via FB. I completely understand why you need to press pause if it’s started to feel like a chore, but I’m sure I’m not the only one of your followers hoping it will prove to be a temporary break 🙂 And of course we’d love to catch up with you in person when you’re back in the country!
Phil & Michaela
Yes there’s that Canterbury thing lurking in the background 😁. As I’ve said to others, Sarah, it just feels like it’s run its course at the minute…
Toonsarah
Yes, Canterbury for sure 😀 Let me know when you’re around please.
Phil & Michaela
We’ll be home October 9th and will probably be in UK till early December
Toonsarah
Great. We’ll be around apart from a short break at the end of October and one in Cologne (for football) mid December

Phil,
Thanks for letting your loyal followers of your decision to press ‘pause’ on writing about your travels. I know full well that each post takes a lot of time and energy, especially one such as yours which is so brilliantly done. We’ll miss you both, but wish you happy travels and good health.
Phil & Michaela
Thank you Annie, and thank you for your many lovely comments over the last few years. Keep enjoying your travels too 😁

So sorry to see you go but I understand. I’ve been thinking about taking a break myself. As others have pointed out, blogging needs to be a pleasure, not a chore.
Phil & Michaela
And it has been an enormous pleasure, I have loved the writing bit.. but everything runs its course and everything reaches a natural end. Which is exactly how it’s feeling just now… we’ll see…

So sad to read that. But I understand that travelling and keeping up with a blog is time-consuming and requires prioritising. Personally, I only write after I get back from a trip, but I don’t travel as often as you do. Enjoy it to the fullest.
Phil & Michaela
We may be back in one form or another…

Enjoy your time away from blogging. Sometimes a break is needed, even with things we enjoy.
